The AMD 7900x3D Ryzen 9 CPU is a 12-core processor that utilizes 3D V-Cache technology and fits into the AM5 socket. This processor is be a modification of the Ryzen 9 7900X with an extra L3 cache chiplet and additional silicon and software tuning for improved performance.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D comes with a substantial 144MB of total cache, 128MB of which is L3 cache that enhances gaming performance. The additional L3 cache chiplet is fabricated on the 7nm process and provides a peak bandwidth of 2.5 TB/s.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D boosts to 5.6 GHz, the same as the standard 7900X but 100 MHz lower than the 7950X3D. The base clock of 4.4 GHz is also 200 MHz higher than the 7950X3D but 300 MHz lower than the 7900X, a necessary adjustment for the lower power envelope.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D operates at a base TDP of 120W and a maximum PPT of 162W, which are 68W lower than the ratings for the standard 7900X. The reduction in power isn't surprising since the additional cache chiplet results in slightly higher operating temperatures.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D doesn't support DDR4 memory; instead, it exclusively supports DDR5 memory.
